BJP top shot and Prime Minister Narendra Modi could hit the campaign trail in Telangana for the state elections as early as the month’s end, with the BJP planning for a public meeting featuring him soon.
According to party leaders, the PM’s office has been informed that the BJP can hold a public meeting on September 28 or 29, or on October 1 or 2.Four parliamentary constituencies – Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar and Mahbubabad – have been shortlisted as possible venues, the BJP leaders said.
With officials from the Election Commission of India scheduled to visit Telangana starting October 3 on a three-day trip to discuss preparations for the state elections, Modi’s public meeting will be a full and formal launch of the BJP’s poll campaign, the party leaders said.
Irrespective of the venue picked by PM Modi’s office in consultation with the state BJP leadership, the visit is expected to coincide with the party’s plans to announce its first list of candidates in the last week of September.It is expected that the candidates could share the dais with the Prime Minister at the public meeting.
