Patna, Sepr 18 : Hours after a similar incident in Samastipur, a man killed his 21-year- old wife in Bihar’s Purnea district on the day of Hartalika Teej on Monday.
The deceased is identified as Manisha Mandal, a native of Bhagalpur.
She had tied the knot with accused Krishna Mandal in 2021.
Her father alleged that Mandal and his family members were harassing her since marriage and they had killed his daughter on the day of Hartalika Teej.
Following the murder, Mandal and his kin are absconding from their home village Lalganj under Rupauli police station in the district.
The district police said that the dead body has been sent for the post-mortem examination.
The actual reason of death is not ascertained yet.It will be cleared after the autopsy report.
“We have received a complaint from the victim’s father against Krishna Mandal and his family members.They are currently on the run.We are making efforts to nab them,” said an officer of Rupali police station.
Earlier in the day, a woman was stabbed by her husband in Samastipur.
Hartalika Teej is a festival in parts of the country where married women fast for a day without drinking a drop of water.
