Actress Rakul Preet Singh faced a tough challenge while working on the film “I Love You.” In this romantic thriller, she plays the character Satya, a strong-willed woman with dark aspects to her personality. The director, Nikhil Mahajan, explores the theme of love turning into obsession and the resulting havoc it can cause in one’s life.
The shooting schedule for the film was quite demanding.
The director had planned a 15-day shoot in December, specifically focusing on emotionally complex scenes. As the days went by, Rakul Preet Singh began to feel the strain.
She found it difficult to sleep at night, even after long and tiring 14-hour days on set.Despite trying melatonin supplements, she couldn’t relax and suffered from vomiting.
Her eating habits were affected as well, and she could only manage to eat simple khichdi. After enduring this ordeal for about 10 days, she consulted her doctor and nutritionist.
The nutritionist explained that her body was reacting to the intense emotions she was experiencing while portraying Satya.
Following the completion of the schedule, Singh took a break as advised by her nutritionist.
She spent three days at a resort, seeking a change of environment and allowing her body to disconnect from the demanding role. This experience made her more aware of the toll that such roles can take on an actor.
From that point on, she made a conscious effort to switch on and off from her character, ensuring she could maintain a healthy balance.

Singh acknowledges that playing Satya was a departure from her usual girl-next-door roles. She deliberately chose this role to add more complexity to her acting repertoire.Since her debut in the film “Yaariyan” in 2014, she has grown and gained a better understanding of the filmmaking process.
Her goal is to continuously improve and evolve with each film, becoming a better version of herself as an actor.
