Seven persons were killed and eight others suffered serious injuries when an SUV vehicle in which they were travelling collided with a speeding truck in Andhra Pradesh’s YSR Kadapa district on Monday.
The tragic road accident took place near Chitravati bridge in Kondapuram mandal in YSR Kadapa district on Monday morning.
The victims were returning in a Toofan vehicle after paying obeisance at Sri Venkateswara temple at Tirupati.The jeep collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
While seven people died on the spot, eight others were injured.
All the deceased belonged to Tadipathri in Anantapur district and Bellary in neighbouring Karnataka, they were returning to their native place after having darshan at Tirumala temple.
Police said a group of devotees from Tadipathri went to Tirumala in a Toofan vehicle.When the vehicle reached near Chitravati Bridge in Kondapuram mandal the driver failed to control the vehicle and collision occurred.
The vehicle was badly damaged and seven persons killed on the spot.The victims included women and children.
Since the accident occurred in darkness, police had a tough time rescuing the victims.The injured were initially rushed to a hospital in Tadipatri and later shifted to Anantapur.Kondapuram police have registered a case.
