Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently attended a press meet in Mumbai to promote her upcoming film ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’.The event was attended by her co-stars Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Aishwarya Lekshmi, and director Mani Ratnam.
Aishwarya looked stunning in an ivory white anarkali suit and greeted Ratnam with a hug, drawing cheers from the media present at the event.During the press meet, Aishwarya was asked about her interest in working in South Indian films compared to Bollywood.
In response, Aishwarya expressed her belief that all films from India are part of Indian cinema.She said that she has always wanted to convey this message through her work, adding that she does not support the view that one should work only in one industry or the other.
She believes that artists should follow their passion and take any opportunity that comes their way to grow and showcase their talent.
Aishwarya also spoke fondly of her mentor Mani Ratnam, whom she referred to as “Mani Sir” or “Mani Garu”.
She considers herself lucky to have had the opportunity to work with him in her first film, and she explained that she always says “yes” to him because she believes in his vision.
Aishwarya and Ratnam have worked together in several films, including ‘Iruvar’, ‘Guru’ and ‘Raavan’.When asked if he considers Aishwarya his lucky charm, Ratnam jokingly responded that as a filmmaker, he is a selfish person and only cares about the film.He chooses Aishwarya only when he believes that she is the right fit for the role.
During the event, Aishwarya also touched Ratnam’s feet as a sign of respect, leaving everyone feeling joyous.The film ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ features music by A.R Rahman and is set to release in cinemas on April 28, 2023.In the film, Aishwarya plays the character of Nandini, who seeks revenge.
