New Delhi, Sep 13 : The Uttar Pradesh chief minister recently examined the development of the large-scale Jewar airport project that is expected to begin operations before the end of 2024.
On his latest trip to Greater Noida, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath was informed of the progress of the Noida international airport project.

Sources said he was pleased that the work was progressing according to the schedule.

According to the information, Adityanath along with his officials inspected the work of the runway as well as the air traffic control tower, and the administration buildings.

Officials have stated that the airport was expected to open at the close of 2024.Being a digitally-connected airport, the NIA will allow seamless and almost completely contactless transfer of passengers to the airport by the use of interconnected systems and facilities, including those offered through technology partners.

The airport will also be equipped with technology like indoor geo-location, identity management flow management data mining, and IoT.

The airport will be open with one runway as well as a terminal that can accommodate 12 million passengers each year.The airport is being built on 1334 ha of land.Through the end of the concession in 2061 the airport will be constructed with two runways that are parallel and an additional terminal capacity to accommodate 70 million travelers.

The masterplan also gives the possibility of expansion beyond the initial concession period of 40 years.

The NIA will offer air connectivity to Noida which is the fastest growing commercial and business hub in India and also other important NCR cities, including Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad that offer a vast market, agglomeration, as well as a migrating population.

It will offer better access to key cities in western Uttar Pradesh, which contributes around two-thirds of the state’s GDP.The airport has served as an important catalyst for industrial activity in this region with the emergence of Jewar, the AIT and manufacturing hubs, with industrial corridors around Jewar.
