Los Angeles, Sep 13 : The showrunner for ‘Succession’ Jesse Armstrong took a dig at King Charles III during his Emmys acceptance speech on Monday night, according to Variety.
On stage with the show’s executive directors as well as cast members which included Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Matthew Macfadyen, and Nicholas Braun, to accept the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, Armstrong said: “Big week for successions.The new King in the UK and this is to us.”

Armstrong who’s British and evidently not an Royalist Armstrong, who is British, said: “Evidently a little bit more votes in our victory over Prince Charles,” prompting gasps from the audience as well as some of his colleagues on the stage.

“Keep it as a royalist.that way,” quipped Scotland-born Cox who is the character’s patriarch Logan Roy.

“No I’m referring to I’m not saying we’re less than legitimate in our position than he is, but we’ll leave the rest to others,” Armstrong continued.

“Delicate balance,”” Cox replied, which caused laughter to ripple through the crowd.

Armstrong continued to deliver the remainder of his acceptance speech.

It was a spectacular night for ‘Succession’ that also saw Armstrong receive an award for the best writing for a drama series in the season 3 finale and Macfadyen awarded for most outstanding supporting actress in the drama series.
