Sydney 13th September : As India women’s cricket team vice captain Smriti mandhana is contemplating withdrawing of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia to better manage her workload, and prevent injuries or niggles to ensure she is fit for international obligations The world’s No.1 bowler for T20I left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone, has no problems with this since she has joined Sydney Sixers to play in the forthcoming season of the lucrative tournament.Mandhana was a Sydney Thunder, a city team that was battling Sydney Thunder in the previous edition of the WBBL with huge results with the bat.
Mandhana is currently participating in the white-ball international matches against England that started with the T20I series on the 10th of September.She believes that balancing the physical aspect is important given the sheer volume of cricket.”I have been traveling for a while after the World Cup.But I’ve been trying to convince me that due to the loss of Covid we weren’t able to play a lot of cricket.We were hoping that we would return and play lots of cricket.
I shouldn’t complain that we do not have lots of cricket on the table,” Mandhana had said in an online media conference on Monday.
However the England’s Sophie Ecclestone has committed herself to the WBBL for the coming season, stating that playing with players like of Alyssa Healy Ellyse Perry, Alyssa Healy and Ash Gardner is something she is eager for further improvement in her skills.
Sydney Sixers coach Charlotte Edwards said she was “delighted” to be able to hire an athlete like Ecclestone 23, who is known for her speed and accuracy.economy rate.
“They are playing in my favorite colour which is an excellent starting point,” said Ecclestone on the Sixers website.
“Obviously they have fantastic players with the likes of (Alyssa) Healy, (Ellyse) Perry and (Ash) Gardner, so I’m very excited to go over and playing with them.
“It’ll be great not having to throw them a ball.it’s good to have them in my team for once! I’m exhilarated (by the idea of being able) to get to know them, and then begin practicing with them and playing in the same group,” added Ecclestone.
Since her debut as an international player against Pakistan in 2016 at 17-year-old, Ecclestone has forged her reputation as the world’s top T20I bowler, with 78 wickets from just the 58 matches she played according to Sydney Sixers.
Edwards stated that Ecclestone was targeted specifically to fill a gap in the Sixers lineup, and added that the left-armer’s track record in Australian conditions suggests she is likely to begin the season with confidence.
“Sophie is the (world’s) top T20 bowler.Her record over the last few years is a testimony to thatand we’re delighted to welcome her to the Sixers,” said Edwards.”In my view, we’ve sourced the best players.
“She is able to bowl in all phases of the game.she is able to catch wickets at crucial moments and she can reduce the run scoring in all circumstances.I’m sure the WBBL is a tournament Sophie would like to participate in and the fact that she’s had a lot of previous experience playing in Australia will keep her in good position.”
Ecclestone’s performances in the 2019 World T20 Cup indicate she’ll feel at ease bowling in Australia.In the tournament, she scored eight wickets in four matches , at an incredible economic rate of 3.23 runs per over.
The spin expert said it was a joy to be aware that she is preparing for an event she’s always wanted compete in.
“It’s been long overdue,” she said of playing in the WBBL.”I’ve been thinking about going for a while now.I’m thrilled thatthis year it’s worked out and I’m finally able to get there.
“I’ve seen quite a bit of it.A couple of the England girls have been there in the past, and have enjoyed the contest.I’m sure I’ll enjoy myself.”
In addition to her bowling skills, Ecclestone is also a lower order batter who is big-hitting and blessed with the capability to smash massive sixes.She appreciates that coach Edwards will grant her a permission to scream with the willow while she is with the Sixers.
