Cong’s Saifuddin Soz hits out at Azad over his Article 370 remark

Srinagar on the 12th of September : Former Union Minister and top Congress leader Saifuddin Soz on Monday in an announcement said that a lot of people in Jammu and Kashmir believe that the story of the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who recently resigned from Congress to start his own political party is not different from the one of the BJP.
“I am also sad that a lot of people in the J&K State have realised that the story of Ghulam Nabi Azad is akin to the story of the Bharatiya Janata Party!”

Soz said that if Azad was a scholar of his history, he would know that “the principal idea is that people were always praised for the vigor of their struggle to reach the goal, not their goal itself”.

“To the best of my knowledge I can tell you that the Central government was not authorized to repeal Article 370 of the Constitution of India on the 5th of August in 2019, unilaterally.” Soz said.

“The Central government did it because it believes more in muscle power, rather than in the Constitutional values!

“Since the date of excessiveness by the government of the Central government, i.e., August 5, 2019, when it repealed the Article 370 of the Constitution of India, the people of the J&K State have started a peaceful, democratic and long-lasting fight for the restoration of the Constitutional status!”

Soz said that the top political party in the J&K mainstream political class has also contacted the Supreme Court for restoration of the Article 370 of the Constitution of India.

Ghulam Nabi Azad stated on Sunday (September 11) that he has not pledged the restoration of Article 370 in his new agenda for politics because he does not believe in making promises that are false.

At a public gathering in the north Kashmir’s Baramulla town, Azad said, “To restore Article 370 would need around 350 votes in the Lok Sabha and 175 votes in the Rajya Sabha.”This is a number that no political party has nor is likely to ever attain. The Congress has been reduced to just 50 seats. And when they talk of returning Article 370, they are making false promises.”

He declared that his policy agenda included the restoration of statehood as well as land, and jobs for locals since these are goals that can be achieved.
