Mexico City, Sep 11 : At at least 18 people were killed when the tanker truck that was that was carrying fuel collided with the bus, causing fire on the highway in the northern state of Tamaulipas the Attorney General’s Office reported.The bus belongs to the Castanuelas Tours company and was operating from the municipality of Huejutla when the incident took place at 67km on the highway Victoria-Monterrey near Hidalgo, the municipality of Hidalgo on the Saturday.
The driver of the truck fled following the crash, as per witnesses.
The highway was shut down to investigate the incident, Xinhua news agency reported.
According to the National Public Security System, 9,315 people died in traffic accidents in Mexico between January and July of this year.
