By Narendra Puppala Hyderabad Sep 11, : The focus is on Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar since he quit of the NDA camp.He has been active in contacting opposition groups in what is being viewed as a last-ditch attempt to take on the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 elections.
In the meantime, Telangana chief minister and TRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) has been traveling across the nation in his quest to create an alliance of the nation prior to the upcoming of the general election. He has also been to Patna a few days back to discuss the issue with Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav.
However the fragility of opposition unity was obvious when the media questioned KCR regarding whether he would back Nitish Kumar for the candidate for the post of Prime Minister. To Nitish Kumar’s evident displeasure, KCR responded that all the parties would discuss and decide on the question after the election.
After that, the press conference ended in an ebb. However, the images, of a persistent KCR asking a similarly adamant Nitish Kumar to sit while he responded to the question and highlighted the obvious flaws in the armor of the opposition.
It’s clear that the unity of opposition is an illusion.Particularly, when it is about the prime ministership and leaders such as KCR should not be expected to make concessions.
The political observer Professor K.Nageshwar in Hyderabad too believes that the question of KCR accepting the Nitish leadership is not a question right now.”That question will be raised after 2024 , when we will know who will accept who.Based on combinations and permutations. It all depends on permutations and combinations.Everyone wants to be Prime Minister. It depends on the number they have. There is no doubt of who is who at this moment of time.Everyone must accept everyone.”
KCR has established his own political party .He has secured statehood for Telangana and also governs one of India’s wealthier states. In contrast, Nitish is seen as the benefit of the coalition system.
It is highly unlikely that KCR will let Nitish Kumar to step in and assume the post of Prime Minister, should the need arise.
KCR also has the additional benefit of being an expert Hindi speaker, which is rare in southern Indian the political elite.
The ability to speak Hindi is essential in regions in the north of the Vindhyas.
One thing that could create an obstacle in the unity of the opposition is that, while KCR is working to create a non-BJP, non-Congress-based party, Nitish Kumar is in charge of the coalition government in Bihar which also includes the Congress.
At the moment, KCR seems to be getting ready for his entry into politics at the national level. The next thing to be discussed is the possibility of a national political party.
He is actively contacting farmers and other important sections of society.
