London 10th Sep : The king of England, King Charles III has pledged “lifelong service” in his first address to the UK and the Commonwealth following his accession to the throne following death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.The telecast was broadcast on Friday , as an event to commemorate the Queen’s passing, which was attended by politicians from the top and more than 2,000 members of the general public.The ceremony was held at St Paul’s Cathedral, the BBC reported.
Seventy years later seventy years later, the UK witnessed the first official performance of the national song, ‘God Save the King’, ever since Charles became the monarch.
In his address to the nation the 73-year old said: “Her dedication and devotion as a sovereign never wavered through periods of advancement and change through times of celebration and joy and also through moments of sadness and sorrow.
“Throughout her entire life Her Majesty, the Queen was a source of inspiration.
Queen Elizabeth lived a full and happy life.lived, she made a promise with destiny kept, and she is mourned the most in her demise.This promise of lifetime service I will keep to you today.”
He claimed he felt “profound sadness” over the passing of his mother.He also said that he was a part of with the general public’s “sense of loss beyond measure”, Xinhua news agency reported.
Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch in history, died at Balmoral, Scotland on Thursday, aged 96.
Charles 73, who is a royalist, will be formally proclaimed King at the Accession Council on Saturday in the ceremony in St.James’s Palace in London.
Charles gave the title of Prince and Princess of Wales on his son William, his oldest son William and daughter-in-law Kate — titles he as well as his wife Diana previously had.
He also declared “love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives in the world”.
In a conversation with his wife of 17 years, Camilla, 75, who will be the Queen Consort he declared: “I know she will be able to meet the demands of her new position the same unwavering devotion to duty upon which I’ve come depend so heavily.”
He acknowledged that his life has changed, and said: “It will no longer be possible for me to devote an inordinate amount of my time and energy to the causes and charities that I am so passionate about deeply.
“But I am confident that this crucial task will be carried out in the safe hands of Others.”
In anticipation of the Queen’s funeral the King expressed his wish that, despite the grief felt across the country and Commonwealth people would “remember and gain strength from the glow of the Queen’s example”.
He said: “And to my darling Mama as you begin your final journey to be with my dearly missed Papa I just want to say Thank you.
“Thank to you for your dedication and love to our family as well as to the entire family of nations you’ve been so faithful to all these years.Let ‘flights of Angels be with you to the end of time’.”
