Chandigarh 9 September : In an innovative method to alert authorities to his dire situation the centenarian held protests in Haryana’s Rohtak town, riding a decorated carriage that he claimed his pension was cut off in March because he was believed to have died.
Duli Chand was part of an escort to hand over an email to the local administration as well as BJP head Manish Grover, requesting the reinstatement of his pension for old age.

Garlands of currency notes with placards reading “Thara foofa abhi Zinda hai (Your uncle is alive)”, he said he got his last old pension in March.

“My pension was cut off because government records indicated that I had died.Since then, I’ve attempted to prove I am alive but in the vain of.”

A few days earlier, Duli chand had informed the media about the slack behavior of the government in spite of filing formal complaints several times.

The centenarian’s cause is being supported by many, even AAP former state chief Naveen Jaihind warned him to stage a protest in case his pension is not reinstated.

“Duli Chand’s pension was canceled even though he has an Aadhaar card, PAN number, and an account statement from a bank.

He was granted the last payment in March, but it was withdrawn shortly afterward,” Jaihind said.
