Sharjah 9th September : Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar and former Afghan Cricket Board chief executive Shafiq Stanikzai got involved in an argument that turned heated on social media after a series of unruly fan-fights broke out between the supporters of both teams in the city on Wednesday.Pakistan and Afghanistan played out an exciting Super Four stage clash in the ongoing Asia Cup.Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah struck back-to-back sixes off the opening two balls of the final over as the Men In Green sealed a one-wicket victory to secure their place in the final with Sri Lanka.
But, following the game the Sharjah Cricket Stadium was witnessing unsavory scene as Afghanistan fans, unhappy with the loss were witnessed breaking chairs and attacking Pakistan supporters.
In a video posted by Akhtar on Twitter, Afghan fans can be seen breaking chairs.”This is exactly what Afghan fans do.This is the same thing they’ve been doing in the past several times.This is a sport and it’s meant to be played in the right way.@ShafiqStanikzai , your fans and your players need to learn some things if you want to improve in the game,” Akhtar wrote in a tweet.
In response, Shafiq Stanikzai replied by saying, “You can’t control the emotions of the crowd.
And these incidents have occurred in the history of cricket.You should to ask Kabir Khan, Inzamam Bhai and @iRashidLatif68 what we did to them.Am giving you an advice, next time baat ko nation pe Mat lena.”
