Mumbai Sep 8, : The festival of rock “Independence Rock,” a.k.a.I-Rock, is set to receive a new start, considering that it is returning after nine years.The festival unveiled its lineup of 10 bands on Wednesday, for the upcoming edition to revive its past and its legacy.The lineup includes a mix of veteran and new-age musicians who are part of the Indian rock scene.
Pentagram (whose leader is Vishal Dadlani) will perform along with the band from the 90s Zero who are returning to the stage ‘I-Rock.
The pioneers of rock music in the United States, Indus Creed, will perform at the festival.
Also performing with their high-energy show will be Parikrama who’s debut track “Xerox” was called “the frontman of Indian rock.” Kashmiri-based band Parvaaz will join the bandwagon with its unique sound that is influenced by psychedelic rock, along with the F16s of “Triggerpunkte” fame.
Post-rock group aswekeepsearching is set to join the lineup to provide a calming and absorbing audio-visual experience.Folk metal act Bloodywood is all set to deliver of their Hindi-Punjabi symphony with a scathing rap style and ethnic instruments.
Avial, which also includes Rex Vijayan, and are well-known for their pioneering “alternative Malayali rock as well as Thaikkudam Bridge, the biggest breakthrough band to emerge from India is set to send our adrenaline rushing with their energy-packed, mosh-inducing shows.
Finding the talent in the scene of rock is the primary goal of the festival.
Its past editions have played an important role in bringing in bands such as Demonic Resurrection, Bhayanak Maut, Motherjane and Mohan Kannan’s Agnee.
In keeping with its long-standing tradition of providing a platform to future stars, ‘I-Rock is hosting an online country-wide band search for new artists.
The winner of the contest will be awarded an opportunity to open the festival in 2019.
Rechristened ‘Mahindra Independence Rock I-Rock’, the festival will take place between November 5 and 6, on the Princess Dock in Mumbai’s Mazgaon area.
