New Delhi, Sep 7 : As India is preparing to present the new law on data protection, Minister of State for IT and Electronics, Rajeev Chandrasekhar told reporters on Wednesday that the nation will be able to have new regulations, rules and laws to be rolled out in the next three to four months with due consideration for all parties involved and the countries.IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had said on Tuesday that the government was working on an updated Data Protection Bill, Digital India Act and a the proposed Digital India law to make the internet more accountable.
“Our goal is to create solid legislation, rules and frameworks and create an environment that can ensure the success of India in the next decade,” said Chandrasekhar.
In his remarks during a panel discussion about advanced manufacturing and data governance at the USIBC’s ‘India Idea Summit 2022″, he said that the India’s strategy is centered on expanding India’s innovation ecosystem, and technology and the internet will be major enablers in the ongoing growth of the economy.
In the course of the debate, the minister mentioned that the nation has the National Data Governance Framework Policy that deals with non-personalized data as well as the anonymized data among other.
“We are also taking a comprehensive plan and are planning to enact a brand new law which addresses the online realm and serves as an engine to boost the Indian economy by facilitating more innovations, more start-ups, while safeguarding the people of India in the sense of security and trust as well as responsibility,” Chandrasekhar emphasised.
Concerning the protection of data, “we have approached the parliament with an extensive set of laws that include the Digital Data Protection Law which will address the data security issues of the digital economy” Minister said.
He added the manufacturing capacity of India has grown in the Covid-19 landscape, and India is aiming to create an electronics manufacturing industry by 2025 and 26.
The manufacturing of electronic devices, currently valued at 75 billion dollars, is expected to become an important part of the $1 trillion economic growth of the country.
“India’s manufacturing capabilities have improved during the Covid-19 landscape, which has made us a preferred supplier in the supply chain across the globe,” said Chandrasekhar.
