New Delhi, Sep 7 : The Legends League Cricket is all set to start with an intense contest between two former India openers.India Capitals’ Gautam Gambhir and Gujarat Giants’ Virender Sehwag will battle each other in the 20-day League beginning on September 16 in the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.The focus will then shift to Lucknow next and there in Harbhajan Singh’s Manipal Tigers will take on Irfan Pathan’s Bhilwara Kings on September 18.
Legends League Cricket will feature the four teams which will play twice against each other in the 12 match league stage.There will be four days of rest in between matches.
The two teams that are the top two at the conclusion of the league phase will compete in the qualifier at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur on the 2nd of October with the winner advancing directly to the final which will be played on the 5th of October.
But the losers of the Qualifiers will be able to get an additional bite of the cherries.However, they will have to compete with the team that finished third on the 3rd of October to secure a spot in the final.
The team that finishes fourth following the league stage will be eliminated.
The fans will get the opportunity to see thrilling matches like Chris Gayle vs Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell Johnson vs Virender Sehwag, Shane Watson vs Muttiah Muralitharan among other clashes.
The matches will start off at 7:30 pm , with the exception of the one between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants in New Delhi on September 25.It will be a 4 pm start along with the Qualifier 1 game which is scheduled to have early kick-off.
The league stage will be played at five venues which include Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Cuttack, and Jodhpur — with the first qualifying event scheduled to take place in Jodhpur.The location for Qualifier 2 as well as the final will be announced shortly.
