Sydney 6 September : Sydney, Sep 6 : in the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) will be offered a variety of ways to shed pounds as part of an initiative that will run for 10 years, unveiled by health authorities on Tuesday to fight obesity-related problems.The NSW Healthy Eating and Active Living Strategy 2022-2032, released by the state health department, detailed the steps to take regarding prevention programs and regular advice in clinics as well as evidence-based social marketing strategies and an environment that is more livable as reported by Xinhua news agency.
It is aimed at reducing the amount of obesity and overweight in young and old people by 5 percent since more than one in two adults and one in five children in the state are at or above healthy weight by 2030.
“The root reasons of the obesity epidemic are multifaceted.
We need to build environments that encourage healthy lifestyles and make sure that people have access to the most appropriate assistance services,” stated NSW Chief Health Officer Marianne Gale.
In the framework of the plan the government of the state will improve and expand physical activities and health-related eating programmes in more schools as well as early preschool services.
Children identified as as at high risk in the clinical care system will be offered with the opportunity to access programs or services focused on healthier living.
The government will also carry out research and develop an integrated platform that will bring people together with greater resources that are reliable, like making healthy meals.
The program will be implemented through the government’s current investment program in healthful eating and active living programs, with more than A$30 million per year.
