Western Digital unveils industry leading 22TB hard drive in India

New Delhi, Sep 6 : Storage solutions giant Western Digital (WD) on Tuesday announced that it will be offering its latest 22TB traditional magnetic recording (CMR) hard disk drives (HDDs) made to deliver maximum power across various types of tasks in India.
The company claimed that the Ultrastar DC HC570 HDD is precisely timed to the Indian market since the country is experiencing massive growth in data, and consequently, expansion of data centers.

“We are thrilled to present the first world-class 22TB CMR HDD in India.We are always working to meet the demands for capacity of the market, and to assist in the evolution of the economy of data centers in the years to be,” Khalid Wani, Senior Director, Sales, India, Western Digital, said in an announcement.

Utilizing its unique OptiNAND, energy-assistedPMR (ePMR), ArmorCache and HelioSeal technologies The company continues to expand its capabilities and areal density, while providing greater value through reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) for cloud service providers and enterprise customers.

“Our newly launched 22TB drives will enable our customers efficiently access and store large amounts of data while delivering cost efficiencies and a low TCO at a scale,” said Jaganathan Chelliah, Senior Director of Marketing, India, Middle East and TIA, Western Digital.

Following the recently concluded auction for 5G spectrum, India expects to see the launch of 5G services that will increase cloud and data usage, resulting in a massive demand for drives with high capacity to reduce TCO The company stated.
