New York, Sep 5 : Norway’s Casper Ruud overcame lucky loser Corentin Moutet of France to get a place in the US Open men’s quarterfinals, while American 12th seed Coco Gauff fought to the death to beat Chinese veteran Zhang Shuai to reach the women’s singles final eight.According to the Chinese newspaper ‘Xinhua’ World No.7 Ruud, who is an even higher ranking than Moutet won the 6-1, 7-6, 6-7(4) 6-1, 6-2, 6-7(4) victory in order to secure a clash with 13th seed Matteo Berrettini of Italy, who squeaked past Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-3 6-4 7-6(2), 6-2.
