Kampala 5 Sep : Five people were killed in the rock quarry that collapsed in the central Ugandan district of Wakiso police said.Police in an announcement made here on Sunday stated that five bodies had been pulled from the rubble of Namulanda Nganjo cell in Kajjansi Town Council.
The incident occurred on a Saturday afternoon, Xinhua media outlet reported.
The statement stated that the statement said that four of the deceased were casual labourers, while one was truck driver.
Investigations into the root of the incident are in progress, according to Police.
“We however advise people of the general public in the area surrounding to avoid moving into the quarry since it is currently a danger to the safety of those who work there,” the police statement said.
At at least four persons were killed when a quarry fell in Kampala, Uganda’s capital Kampala in June 2021.
