New Delhi, Sep 4 : West Indian T20 specialist Chris Gayle will don the Adani Sportsline owned Gujarat Giants jersey in the coming season of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) along with Virender Sehwag.The action starts at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on September 16.In accordance with the LLC’s draft rules for franchises, franchises are given three days to decide on their teams, including any other selection of legendary cricketers with their franchise money available.
The Giants had paid Rs 5,51,80,000 for 15 stalwarts in the virtual draft, and were left with just Rs 2,48,20,000 for the finalisation of their squad.
“After the draft on Friday, Gujarat Giants had clearly expressed their desire to purchase Chris Gayle with the remainder of their own franchise purse of Rs 8 crore.We helped facilitate the discussion and we are happy that Gayle will be taking part in the Adani Sportsline team,” said Raman Raheja, CEO and co-founder of LLC.
Gayle will be joined by of his teammate and fellow West Indian batter Lendl Simmons as well with local favourite Parthiv Ptel.Sri Lanka’s mysterious spinner Ajantha Mendis and former New Zealand captain and left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori will spearhead the spin department while Mitchell McClenaghan will lead the pace-bowling department.
