Melbourne September 4, : A few days following the selection of in New Zealand pace bowler Trent Boult in the Big Bash League (BBL) Player Draft The Melbourne Stars have agreed to a new contract of two years with Adam Zampa, which will ensure that Zampa the Australia leg-spinner of the team remain with the team until the close of BBL-14.Zampa is a major player for the Stars since joining the team from Adelaide Strikers in BBL-5.
In his tenure with the Stars, Zampa has taken 82 wickets and established himself as one of the best white-ball spinners in the world.
At the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE the spinner was selected in the squad of the tournament.
He was also selected as a part of Australia’s team for the upcoming T20 World Cup.Australia will try to defend their title in the home stadium.
Melbourne Stars general manager Blair Crouch Blair Crouch said Zampa was an important signing for the club.
“Adam is a vital player of the Melbourne Stars family and has worked hard to create an intimate connection with our members and supporters over many years of time.He’s a sought-after cricketer, but more importantly, an incredible person to be around at the club.” Crouch said.Crouch in an announcement.
“Adam will play a significant part off the field in the next few years in the years to come as we continue collaborate with Adam to develop our Team Green environmental initiative, for which he is the ambassador.”
Melbourne Stars coach David Hussey said Zampa’s hard-earned effort was recognized.”After being forced to wait for his turn at the international stage, Adam has been nothing less than of extraordinary in improving his leg spin technique.
“He is a significant senior player of the Melbourne Stars, as well as his ability with the ball.he can also provide a tremendous amount of leadership to those with less experience in the team.”
Zampa told the media that he was looking forward to a long-lasting tenure at the club over the next couple of seasons.
“I enjoy going to Melbourne every year to play in the BBL and I’m excited to spend two more seasons as part of the Stars family.We’ve gathered an amazing collection of players and I’m looking to be able to win the ultimate goal with this team.
“It’s an exciting summer ahead in Australian cricket, and I’m eager to go to Melbourne following the ICC T20 World Cup for BBL-12.”
Zampa’s deal follows just days after the all-rounder Glenn Maxwell inked a four-year extension in February of this year.
