Aditya Yadav 34 is the son of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lihia (PSPL) President Shivpal Yadav.

Aditya who is a director of International Cooperative Alliance, has not yet participated in his first assembly election. He was appointed recently the state president of PSPL and the circumstances have put him in a position to compete with his cousin who is estranged from him as well as SP President Akhilesh Yadav.

Aditya hasn’t received any the political goodies on a silver plate and he has yet to launch an angry criticism of SP.

“I am a believer in positive political action and drawing a more long line to prove my fact,” he says.

Abdullah Azam, 31, is another son who has been struggling through the adversities of the last three years with his father Mohd Azam Khan.

He was a prisoner for a term, disqualification from the state assembly, and a myriad of other trials and turbulences.

The soft-spoken Abdullah has stood up for his dad like a rock.He hasn’t commented on the cases handed to his family by the UP government.

It was just recently that he took aim at an older SP leader after the latter made a negative comment about his father.

Much like his father, Abdullah also maintains a quiet silence about his interactions with his SP direction and the prospects for his future.

Another son feeling the heat, primarily due to the actions of his father is Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) MLA Abbas Ansari, 30.

His father, Mukhtar Ansari, has been on the state’s target list for the past five years. Now Abbas who just was elected for the first time, is now on the list of targets.

He was identified as an absconder in an investigation under the Arms Act.In addition, Abbas is a national shooting champion in his own right.

One of his assistants said: “Abbas is paying the cost of being the son of his father but he isn’t deterred. He has prepared for any eventuality, while trying to hope for the best.”

Mukhtar Ansari is in prison since 2005, and the family’s property valued at hundreds of millions of rupees has been taken away or destroyed by government agencies.

Arvind Rajbhar 34, is the son of SBSP president Om Prakash Rajbhar. He is also the general secretary of his party.

Arvind has been trying to keep the balance in the political arena since his father has been known for shifting his loyalties more quickly than was expected.

He is aware that the path ahead isn’t easy for him, unless his father forms an alliance at the national level prior to the next Lok Sabha elections but that isn’t a reason to stop him from establishing his authority in the regional political scene.

According to R.K.Singh an analyst in the field of politics “These sons could be described as the children of midnight since they entered politics at the time that their parents were in the realms of despair and darkness. They were compelled into the battles of their fathers and are forced to fight the same way.Despite having been born into prominent family structures, they don’t have the silver spoon in their mouths.”
