New Delhi, Sep 3 : Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated on Saturday that the subject of organ donation is inextricably tied to our culture of common prosperity.Speaking to a crowd after instigating the ‘Swasth Bharat conclave, held to discuss the current state of organ donation in India and to find ways to address the problems that lie ahead the minister stated “It is in our tradition that we consider the possibility of not just our own benefits but also the benefit of others and the subject of organ donation is firmly connected to this idea.”
Mandaviya stressed on Jan Bhagidari’ or the movement of the people in order to inspire people to step forward to donate organs for humanitarian reasons.
“It is impossible to rely on the government or the NGOs on their own to convince people of organ donation.
There needs to be a movement of the people to make the campaign effective,” he said.
Inviting the crowd to create a people-driven movement for organ donation, Mandaviya stated, “The Health Ministry is completely committed to advancing the goal of organ donation in all of its endeavors.”
