Bangladesh captain Shakib dissatisfied with bowlers who bowl too often wides and no-balls.

Dubai 2 Sep : Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan has slammed heavily on his bowlers who were not disciplined enough in their length and line, and for giving away too many runs in wides and no-balls in their defeat to Sri Lanka in the do-or-die Asia Cup Group B clash on Thursday evening.
While defending a competitive score of 183/7, Bangladesh still ended up losing the must-win game, with Sri Lanka overhauling the target of losing of eight wickets and four balls at the Dubai International Stadium.

Afghanistan as well as Sri Lanka advanced to the Super Four round, while Bangladesh were eliminated.Bangladesh has conceded 17 extras including eight wides and four no-balls.

“No captain would want a no-ball and a spinner who bowls no-balls is considered to be an offence,” Shakib was quoted by ICC after the game.”We bowled (a) large amount of wide balls and no-balls and that’s not what we call disciplined bowling. These are pressure games , and we have to learn from this experience and continue to improve,” he added.

Sri Lanka’s win came after the most run chase ever to be completed in the UAE in T20Is.

Sri Lanka’s top run-scorer of the game Kusal Mendis, who hit the score of 37-ball-60 and was handed numerous lifelines. He was dropped by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim, when he was on two off Taskin Ahmed, and later after Mahedi Hasan had produced an edge on the outside in the seventh over but the spinner overstepped.

Shakib said that the team is required to perform, especially in the final overs.

“The turning moment could have been when our batsmen went out (at crucial times) and spinners were bowling no-balls is an offence.

It demonstrated how we could break (down) in a pressure situation. We have to improve this skill, but we do break when there is pressure and we lose the game.We have to improve our performance in the dying overs.” Shakib said.Shakib.

The skipper stated that Bangladesh will play with an attack that is dominated by pace in the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia in October and November.

“On this type of wicket, 12 runs need to be bowled by speed bowlers and in the majority of instances, you’d expect that. The bowlers who can deliver will remain and (those) who aren’t able will not be around,” he said.”We saw four bowlers in two matches. We hope to find four or five pacers who can bowl between 12 and 14 for us, as in Australia we must rely on our pacers.”
