New Delhi, Sep 1 : The streaming platform discovery+ (Discovery Plus) on Thursday announced it is rolling out a brand-new feature of UPI AutoPay as a payment method in the Indian market in collaboration with the National Payments Council of India (NPCI).This new function, which allows automatic payments for subscriptions that are recurring will be available via Android as well as direct web, which makes it available to both new and existing users.
“At discovery+ we’re committed to making the streaming experience we provide as seamless as is possible for our customers.The majority of payments for discovery+ India occur via UPI one-time payments , and we found that manual renewal of subscriptions was a major obstacle for our customers.” Tushar Singh, Director of Product International and Expansion International and Expansion – India, Warner Bros.Discovery said in an announcement.
“With the support of NPCI as well as our payment partner, Adyen, any user with an account on discovery+ in India will be capable of paying for their subscription with UPI AutoPay.” he added.
UPI is the most preferred phone-based payment system, created by NPCI with the intention that users can transfer money instantly.UPI AutoPay is an improved version of UPI that allows regular payments in the near future, and removing the necessity to manually renew of subscriptions by making one-time payments that allow users to keep their subscriptions.
