San Francisco, Aug 31 : Uber, the largest ride-hailing company Uber has updated its safety toolkit.customers can now seek help by text or phone from an actual safety representative from the security company for homes ADT in the US in the event that they require it.If a text or call exchange is required, the agent will follow a current journey, remain in contact for the length of the trip and even call to 911 on behalf of the user.
The company also widened the accessibility of the feature that allows users to call 911.
“After pressing the safety shield users will be able to see huge tiles with all the safety aid choices accessible in their region.The Safety Toolkit, riders and drivers can use the emergency button and are able to signal safety incidents to us directly during their journey,” said Rebecca Payne Lead Safety Product Manager of Uber.
Uber has joined forces with ADT to provide its customers the assistance of an expert in safety.
The agent is able to get important information about the trip, such as the car’s make and model and license plate number as well as GPS position from the driver.
“We hope that this new feature will provide users with an additional piece of assurance that help is readily available in the app in any safety concern,” said Payne.
“We are expanding text messages to 911 to almost 60 percent of the US comprising the entirety of California as well as New York City, where the technology is in place for 911 centers to receive texts,” she added.
If someone is using the text-to- 911 feature the Uber app will automatically populate the message with information about the vehicle, its the location, and the destination, “so you can quickly transmit the information to emergency personnel”.
