Washington 30th, August : Republican Senator Lindsey Graham warned that there “will be protests in the streets” should the former president Donald Trump is indicted. “If they attempted to pursue President Trump There will be street riots in the streets,” dpa news agency quoted the South Carolina Republican as saying on Fox News on Monday, adding: “I worry about the country.”
Despite mounting evidence in support of Trump, the top lawmaker claimed it’s an article of faith with the majority of Republicans that liberal prosecutors are determined to take down the former president.
“Most Republicans, including me believe that in Trump there isn’t a legal law.” Graham said.”It’s all about getting him.”
Graham as well as a lot of other high-profile Republicans had a brief rift with Trump following the 6 January 2021, rout of the Capitol.
The Senator even stated that he was “done” with the former President.
In the next few several weeks Graham made excuses for Trump’s actions and returned to the “MAGA” train.
Graham is currently fighting a subpoena to appear before an Georgia grand jury regarding Trump’s efforts to bully state officials into reversing his defeat in 2020 to the president Joe Biden in the state.
Graham has continued to stand up for Trump even as prosecutors discovered boxes of secret documents hidden at the Mar-a-Lago resort.
The FBI is investigating Trump for allegedly taking the documents after he quit office and not returning them despite the opportunity to produce them under a subpoena.
Like many Republicans, Graham resorted to repeating the Hillary Clinton email saga as one reason to explain why Trump should not be off the responsibility for potential violations of the Espionage Act and obstructing justice.
“Hillary Clinton set up an server in her basement,” he said, without mentioning that the Department of Justice also probed the former Secretary of State but did not pursue her.
