Washington 30th, August : The US government has praised the recent inspection of the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhya nuclear power station in Ukraine by experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). “We wholeheartedly support the International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Grossi’s expert visit to the power plant and are pleased that the team has been on the way to determine the security, safety and security of the equipment there, and to assess the staff’s work conditions.” stated National Security Council Communications Director John Kirby.
He demanded Russia to give inspectors “safe and unhindered access” and stated that the nuclear power plant is not a suitable location for military operations, the dpa news agency said.
“In the meantime, we think that a controlled shut-down of Zhaporizhzhya’s nuclear power plants would be the most secure and most secure alternative in the near future,” he added.
Europe’s largest nuclear power station with six reactors in the southern part of Ukraine is under the control of Russian soldiers since March. The repeated shelling has led to fears of an unimaginable nuclear disaster.
