WBSSC fraud: Middleman Prasanna Roy sent to seven days CBI custody

Kolkata 29 August : A special CBI court on Monday sentenced Prasanna Roy the middleman who was arrested in the connection with the multi-crore West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) scam for seven days of CBI custodyuntil September 5.
In his argument in his arguments, counsel for the CBI counsel claimed that the investigating officers have obtained an inventory of people from Roy and suspect that the names are of unqualified candidates who were appointed as teachers to receive hefty salaries.

CBI officials must obtain details from Roy regarding who been the one who instructed him to compile this list.And for this reason, the agency officials have to keep him in custody for another few days, counsel said.

Roy is married to an niece of the former West Bengal Education Minister and Trinamool Congress Secretary General, Partha Chatterjee.Chatterjee is currently in the custody of the courts following his suspected involvement in the fraud.

In his case in his case, the CBI counsel also claimed that Roy always maintained a close connection with the former convenor of the WBSSC’s screening panel, Santi Prasad Singh.He is in CBI custody in the context with the fraud.

The CBI counsel also outlined the massive financial gain of Roy in the time between 2014 and the year 2018.believed to be the most lucrative period of the teacher recruiting scam with Chatterjee serving as the Education Minister of the state.

In the meantime, CBI sources said that they have found specific documents that were found in Roy’s offices, which indicate that soon he was planning to enter the film production.”We believe that entering film production was intended to taking the profits of the fraud.We also obtained an inventory of the actresses and actors through his office.

We are unable to release names of actors and actresses at present to facilitate the purposes of an investigation to follow,” a CBI official said.
