PCB to donate gate earnings from Pakistan’s T20I opener against England to the PM’s Flood Relief Fund

Lahore 28 August : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced that the gate revenue from the first T20I against England scheduled to take place at the National Stadium in Karachi on September 20.The money is to be given to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund 2022.
It was earlier announced that the Babar-Azam-led team will sport armbands in black in their first game of Group A in Asia Cup 2022 against India at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday evening in order to show solidarity with the flood victims and their families who were affected by the floods.

The torrential downpour continues to batter parts of Pakistan already ravaged by catastrophic flooding of immense magnitude, causing destruction and death in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Balochistan and Sindh provinces.

Numerous of individuals have died in KP in the province, where heavy rains caused devastating floods in streams and rivers that have also swept away a number of homes close to their banks.Balochistan remains isolated from the rest of the country because of new rains.

“We at the PCB convey our deep grief and sadness for all affected by the severe flooding and monsoon rains which have resulted in destruction and destruction beyond imagination, claiming the lives of more than 1,000 people and causing one million homeless.Cricket is the only sport that unites our nation, we stand with the victims as well as all who are involved in the flood relief and rescue efforts.”

In this context we have chosen to donate gate money of the opening T20I against England next month to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund,” said Ramiz Raja, PCB Chairman.

PCB has also asked cricket fans and followers to buy tickets in large quantities once they become available on the internet for sale next week, to show solidarity with everyone affected by the recent disaster caused by floods.

Help with rehabilitation of the affected people and aid the federal and local governments in their aid and rescue efforts.

“I would like to encourage all fans to be a part in the initiative by purchasing tickets for the inaugural T20I and showing up in large crowds so that we as a family of cricketers can contribute a substantial amount of money to the fund, and also show our solidarity with those who have been affected by the disaster.”

“We have sent truck filled of medicines, food and other essentials to the affected areas .We will continue to help our nation and our rescue operational teams in any way we can.Our prayers and thoughts are with those living in Pakistan,” said Raja.of Pakistan,” added Raja.

England will host seven T20Is during their first tour of Pakistan in 17 years.Karachi will host games on September 20 22, 23 and 25 as well as Lahore will host the matches for the three remaining matches on September 28 and 30 and on October 2.

England will then travel to Pakistan in the latter part of November to play three Tests that will take place in Rawalpindi (December 1-5), Multan (December 9-13) and Karachi (December 17-21) as part of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle 2021-23.
