Alka Yagnik: I’d sing a line, then glance at my mother and figure whether I’d done my job well.

Mumbai on August 28, : Bollywood’s famous singer Alka Yagnik recalls her childhood moments when she would look at her mother after she sang every line.She claimed that in order to feel confident about her performance she would observe the response of her mother Shubha who was a classically trained singer.
She stated: “I remember while performing singing, I would sing a line and then look at my mother in order to make sure that I’m singing it correctly.When I saw this and my entire childhood flashed in before of me like my mother was in the audience, and I was on stage.”

In the special ’90s’ episode of Superstar Singer 2, Alka, who is included in the panel of judges alongside with Himesh Reshammiya, Javed Ali and others is awestruck by the singing skills of 6-year-old Sayisha Gupta’s rendition of romantic songs like “Baazigar oh Baazigar” “Dheere dheere Pyaar Ko and ‘Dekha Hai Pehli baar saajan, aankhon mein Pyar’.

Alka says that her performance reminds her of her childhood: “Sayisha’s voice is so sweet that I could listen to her for hours.The way she performs is so adorable that her errors appear to be adorable.Like she was watching her mother as she was performing to get the feeling of security, I was taken back to my early.”
