London, Aug 28 : Actor-director-writer Ricky Gervais, who has written and directed the British television mockumentary sitcom ‘The Office’, has banned his audience from having ice in their drinks, reports Mirror.co.uk.The reason? It’s because it interferes with the comic’s performance at a micro-level.The comic says that the sound of the cubes in people’s glasses disrupts the flow of his stand-up performances.
According to Mirror.co.uk The ban was in force when Ricky 61 tried out his gags at the London’s Leicester Square Theatre in preparation for his upcoming show to the streets. The Office’s star who is believed to have a new Netflix special in the works, provoked complaints from his viewers with his wacky ban.
A participant in the audience laughed: “He’s a perfectionist, but he must relax.”
On one of the episodes, the sharp-tongued comedian was snarky about a person he saw eating snacks in his seat, and snapped: “Didn’t have your dinner?” The audience was then in his face, he then said: “He’s enjoying a picnic!”
Ricky has already made media for recruiting his own group of bodyguards to the shows following the attacks on his fellow comic Dave Chappelle and author Salman Rushdie were both slapped on the stage.
The creator of ‘After Life’ added security to ensure his safety while he test new content at the Soho theatre , it is so tiny that the members of the audience are only two feet from the performers.
