Seoul Seoul, August 26 : Pope Francis says he is willing to travel to North Korea, should the leaders of the country ever decide to decide to invite him, he told a South Korean broadcaster in an interview published on Friday. “I will visit whenever I am invited.I’m recommending they invite me.I will not decline. The reason of my trip is to show brotherly love” the news outlet dpa reported Francis in a statement to KBS.
North Korea allow only a small number of guests to travel into the country. However, residents of the nation’s isolation are generally not allowed to leave.
The nation has been shut down more tightly than usual since the coronavirus outbreak began.
Pope Francis told KBS that he has observed the way that both countries have escaped conflict.
Technically, the war which divided the peninsula in North and South Korea has never ended.
“You have experienced the sufferings of war.You are aware of what war means.Work toward peace.I send my blessings and prayers for peace to all in both Koreas.”
The pope has never traveled to North Korea, though the late Pope John Paul II was once invited.
