Hyderabad 26 August : In the aftermath of mixed reviews of the day of its release, producers of “Liger” have announced that on Friday the film has earned more than 33.12 crore across the globe in the first day of One in all languages.This could be higher than the opening-day haul of “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2′, the biggest mainstream Bollywood film of the year, which was gaining momentum as the days passed.Trade news websites however, are cautious with their numbers.
Bollymoviereviewz.com reports that worldwide, ‘Liger’ has grossed Rs 28.1 crore, including Rs 3.63 crore from America, and of this, the all-India share is Rs 19 crore.
That’s more than what ‘Samrat-Prithviraj”, ‘Shamshera “Raksha Bandhan and Laal Singh Chaddha each did during their initial days.However, it is evident from all available data that ‘Liger’ has performed very well in the two states that speak Telugu.
Yet, it’s the seventh-highest opening for an Telugu film (single-language or dubbed) this year, just behind the ‘RRR’, ‘KGF 2 and Mahesh Babu’s ‘SVP’and ‘Radhe Shyam’ Acharya’, ‘RRR’, and F3.It is clear that the method of placing an South Indian star in a Bollywood film, hoping it will end the current box-office drought hasn’t worked.
Puri Jagannadh’s highly-anticipated film with Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday in the leading roles was released globally on Thursday, bringing high expectations.
