At the time of his interview with Grandage, Styles showed up with all the lines memorized.
The actor revealed the reasons that attracted him to the tale, Styles said, “It’s not an LGBT story about gay guys’.It’s about love and waste of time for me.It’s pretty difficult to think that you couldn’t possibly be gay.It was illegal (in the 1950s)’.I think that everyone including me, has their own experience with finding out what sexuality is and becoming more comfortable with it.”
The story is set in 1957 Britain The story, ‘My Policeman’ is an adaptation of Bethan Roberts’ novel of the same name.
The film reveals the love triangle of gay policeman Tom (played by Harry Styles), teacher Marion (played by Emma Corrin), and museum curator Patrick (played by David Dawson).
Tom gets married to Marion and is engaged to Marion, but he is in relationship with Patrick which leads them to an emotional journey.
The game of hide-and-seek can result in regret and longing.
Later, in 1990 the three of them are given a last chance to rectify their past mistakes as they come together in difficult circumstances.
While the film contains intimate scenes, Styles feels it focuses more on the emotional bonding between gay couples, rather than physical intimacy.
In a conversation with the director, he explained how Micheal Grandage sought to depict gay intimacy The actor explained: “So much of gay sex in the film is two guys smacking at each other and it kind of takes away the intimacy out of it.”
Styles said: “There will be, I’d guess, some viewers who were alive in the time of this film in which homosexuality was not legal and Michael wanted to demonstrate that it’s loving and tender and sensitive.”
With an ensemble actor cast of Harry Styles, Emma Corrin Gina Mckee Linus Roache David Dawson and Rupert Everett The film will be released in theaters across the country on October 21, followed by a worldwide release on Prime Video on November 4.
