Seoul 24 Aug : North Korea on Wednesday called for increased alert for a virus that was discovered in China just a few days after Pyongyang declared victory over the Covid-19 conflict.The Rodong Sinmun, an organ of the North’s Workers’ Party included a warning in the article that the new zoonotic disease known as Langya Henipavirus may cause “another pandemic” According to Yonhap News Agency.
“Some experts believe that the virus may take away lives similar to the coronavirus if it’s infected with people since the virus could cause severe health issues,” it said.
The Langya virus is believed to have infected around 35 people as of the end of last year, when it was first detected in the eastern Chinese province of Shandong in December 2018.
Pyongyang revealed its first Covid-19-related case on the 12th of May, after declaring that it was coronavirus-free for two years.
In the wake of declaring the virus defeated it has removed a face mask requirement and eased the restrictions on anti-virus protection across the nation.
