Los Angeles, Aug 24 : Paul Pelosi, the husband of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi admitted guilt to misdemeanor driving while under the influence charges in connection with the May car crash he caused in the Napa County city of Yountville and was sentenced to five consecutive days in prison and 3 years of probation according to the authorities.Paul Pelosi, 82, will not serve any further jail time, despite already serving two days in jail and receiving conduct credit for two additional days, Napa County Superior Court Judge Joseph Solga was quoted as saying by the news agency dpa.
In place of serving the rest of the day in jail the court ordered he finish the day by the court work program the attorney for Pelosi said.The court work programme converts the day of jail into eight hours of community service.
Solga also tossed out a third accusation against Pelosi for driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent.
Pelosi was driving the 2021 Porsche and was involved in a collision with an 2014 Jeep driven by an older man, 48, in Napa County, the California Highway Patrol said in May.He was detained and given an alcohol test, which revealed 0.082 percent blood alcohol levels as reported by the Napa County district attorney’s office stated.He admitted to driving while under the influence of alcohol, causing injuries.
Nancy and Paul Pelosi have been married since 1963.
