On Monday Khan’s attorneys Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhry filed an application in the High Court asking for pre-arrest bail on behalf of Khan.

A bench of justices Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Babar Sattar heard the petition and inquired about the objections made by the office of the registrar.

Awan told the court that an objection to the appropriate forum was raised during the plea.

Justice Kayani remarked that an objection regarding biometrics was also brought up.

In the course of the proceedings, Awan claimed that Khan’s Banigala residence was “surrounded” and “he cannot even get in touch with the court that is relevant”.

He demanded that the bench give Khan security bail so that the appropriate forum could be reached, Dawn reported.

“If the court wishes to exercise its authority to issue bail for pre-arrest it’s in your court’s jurisdiction,” he added.

Justice Kayani observed that the appropriate venue was the anti-terrorism court .She also did not rule out the possibility of the high court giving Imran pre-arrest bail at this time.

The court granted Khan protection bail until Thursday and ordered Khan to appear before the appropriate court by the deadline.
