Pence was organized about making sure that all White House documents were preserved and stored away, The New York Times reported.

The aides to Pence, as per the report, made sure that all documents were indexed, and then boxed up.The president’s chief of staff and counsel his counsel – Marc Short and Greg Jacob respectively – supervised the process. The aim according to an unidentified official was to get Pence to stay in the White House without all documents in their proper location.

On the other on the other hand, Trump allegedly mishandled government documents.

The FBI had searched the former President’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida and found 11 boxes of classified documents that Trump transferred to the White House after leaving the presidency, as per court documents made public on Friday.A few of the boxes were clearly designated as “top classified,”” Business Insider’s Sonam Sheth reported.

According to the Presidential Records Act, Trump should have handed over the documents to the agency after he left his post. However, the White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney told CNN in an interview that there was an arrangement in place to make sure something similar to that doesn’t happen.

“The staff is expected to be involved,” he said.”If there are sensitive materials sitting on his desk at conclusion of the meeting, and it could happen .the staff will step in to ensure that all of the items are removed and put in an appropriate location prior to the next meeting taking place.”

“You cannot manage the President,” Mulvaney continued.”The President will do what he will do.But there are mechanisms in every working West Wing to make sure that the law is adhered to and documents are kept safe and classified information is handled as classified information.”
