Cincinnati 21 August : Caroline Garcia of France is now the first player to be a qualifier for the WTA 1000 tournament final after continuing her dream in the Western & Southern Open with an intense win against sixth seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus.In a match that was halted twice due to extended rain in the evening on Saturday, Garcia triumphed 6-2, 6-1, 4-6 in the semifinal, which was played for 2 hours and 5 minutes, according to DPA.Garcia’s win over Sabalenka ensured her a spot in the final against Petra Kvitova, who beat Madison Keys in the other semifinal earlier on Saturday.
The win also adds another top-10 win to Garcia’s resume at the Cincinnati event, where he knocked out the fourth seed Maria Sakkari as well as seventh seed Jessica Pegula en route to the final four.
The world’s number 35 also defeated the world’s the world’s top-ranked Iga Swiatek on the way to win the Poland Open title three weeks ago.

She had to pass qualifying to qualify in the Cincinnati main draw.
She appeared like she was racing through Sabalenka after she took the first set in the manner of an impression.
A two-and-a half-hour rain delay ended Garcia’s progress to 1-1 in the second set but it was Sabalenka who came back the most powerful after the break.
Garcia had to use her left arm for bandaging after trailing 5-4 in the second set, which forced Sabalenka to wait for a long time before she could serve to tie the match.
As the match appeared to be going Belarus’ way, a more resolute Garcia took the lead to 3-1 in the final set; however the rain came back in the next set with Garcia 30-15 ahead on serve, which caused a second delay.
However, Garcia did not give up when play resumed 90 minutes after, he took the last three games and securing a historic spot in the final.
In the previous game, Kvitova fended off home favorite Keys to earn a return to the top 20 of the world’s best players.
The twice-crowned Wimbledon champion fought to the 7-6 (6-8) 7-6, winning score of 6-4, 6-3 in 2 hours and 18 mins.
