Panaji 15 August : The focus is on the steps taken by the Goa government to boost employment in Goa, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, on Monday, said that technology is now an engine of the economy , and Goa has taken a number of initiatives to provide a boost to the tourism industry. “Technology is now a major economic engine and the government has taken a number of initiatives to boost to the sector.
If we want to create jobs, we have to educate our workforce and to do that, we must have a well-rounded education system.The introduction of the brand new National Education Policy (NEP) will overhaul the educational system offering students more choices to select their academic discipline, which in turn will provide greater opportunities for students in the future,” he said.
In a statement, claiming that tourism is as a major source of GDP, Khaunte said the state government has made it easier of doing business and online services , which results in less paperwork and helped Goa become an investor-friendly state.
He added that the state government was working to promote ecotourism in the state.
Khaunte who also is also the holder of the IT portfolio She said that the start-up policy is creating jobs in the state.
“Several startups have been approved in the state, and received financial assistance .It was an exciting moment for the state to witness the visions of these start-ups take off,” he said.
He further stated that the government is taking measures to promote industries like animation, which could generate revenue for the state and create job opportunities.
