Amman 15 Aug : Jordanian authorities have initiated an investigation into a vessel that is believed to have caused an oil spill last Sunday off Jordan’s southern coast.Local authorities are trying on containing the oil spill that has occurred off the coast of the Aqaba container terminal, Jordan’s sole container port.
Nidal Majali, a senior official with Jordan’s Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority was quoted by the state-owned Petra news agency.
The oil spill that encompassed an area of 700 square meters, polluted coral reefs, and also damaged equipment of divers’ centres, Xinhua news agency reported in local media reports.
