Gadag 12 August : Authorities on Friday barred Sri Rama’s chief Pramod Muthalik’s visit to Karnataka’s Gadag district, claiming that his visit could disrupt the peace in the area.
Muthalik planned to go to the home of Somu Gudi who is an activist in jail of Sri Rama Sena in connection with an incident of stabbing which occurred in the course of celebration of Muharram festival.

District Commissioner M.L.Vaishali has issued an order prohibiting the entry of Muthalik until the 14th of August at midnight to Gadag district in the interest of keeping peace and law and order.The orders were issued in line with IPC Sections 133, 143 and 144.The instructions have been issued to the police department in this regard to take actions in the event of the violation of orders.

Toufeeq Hosamani (23) and Mustaq Hosamani (24) were injured by a knife in Mallasamudra village close to Gadag during the Muharram procession on Tuesday.

The two youths suffered injuries in the chest, abdomen and legs.

The situation of Toufeeq Hosamani who is being treated at the GIMS Hospital of Gadag and is believed to be grave.

The injured Somesh Gudi Yallappa Gudi, and their companions are in police custody.

In the meantime, in retaliation to the stabbing incident, relatives of the victims as well with hundreds of community members, including women were able to attack the home of the accused Somesh Gudi.

The mob of violence was able to smash the doors and windows of the home and assaulted family members.

Security has been strengthened in the most vulnerable areas of the district.
