Dakshina Kannada (Karnataka) 11 Aug : The Karnataka Police on Thursday confirmed that the three men were detained for murdering BJP Yuva Morcha activist Praveen Kumar Nettare, had ties with the Popular Front of India (PFI) and the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).Additional DGP Alok Kumar said, “The accused have links with PFI and SDPI and this will be noted in the charges sheet.”
The perpetrators who were elusive for 15 days they have been identified as Siyabuddin Sullia (33), Riyaz Antadaka (27) and Bashir Elimale Subramanya (29).The police have already arrested seven individuals who were involved in providing shelter for the murderers.
Siyabuddin provided cocoa.Riyaz was a poultry supplier, and Basheer worked in an hotel.
The police had arrested the perpetrators in the Talappady of Karnataka and Kerala border.The murderers took refuge in the Malliluddin mosque in Kasargod district of Kerala.
From there, they are being investigated to find out where the suspects were hiding.
“The investigation must be conducted into the motivation of the murder as well as the system of support they used.
The father of Shafeeq one of the suspects in the investigation, was employed in the chicken shop owned by Praveen Nettare,” Alok Kumar stated.
Kumar added that the government transferred the investigation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
NIA also carried out a investigation with police.After nabbing those who sheltered the murderers, and tracing vehicles and weapons used in the murder the case will be turned over to NIA.
Six special teams of police were formed in order to capture the perpetrators who rode two bikes and cut Nettare to death on the 26th of July.The police teams searched the locations where the murderers were hiding and arrested the perpetrators.
In the meantime it is reported that the Karnataka Police have begun the process of attaching the property of the suspects in the murder trial.ADGP Alok Kumar had stated that the process of attaching the properties of the accused was in progress.
The police together with the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) will take possession of the property of the suspects, he said.
On the 26th of July, bike-riding criminals targeted BJP activist Praveen Nettare in Bellare town of Dakshina Kannada district in the front of his chicken store.They killed him with a knife.
After the killing of Praveen Praveen Nettare, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had canceled the celebrations of his term of one year in office.
He paid a visit to Praveen Nettare’s relatives and presented an amount of 25 lakh in an apology from the state.The party also offered the amount of Rs 25 lakh in separate installments.
The incident led to a string of protests by BJP workers from all over Karnataka.The agitators occupied the state Home Minister Araga Jnanendra’s home, causing serious embarrassment to the ruling class.
The investigation had discovered that Parveen Nettare had been targeted for initiating an anti-halal campaign.
