Chandigarh 10 Aug : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday announced the setting an organization of Ministers (GoM) to ensure efficient monitoring and controlling of lumpy skin disease in livestock on a daily basis.Sharing information following an high-level meeting that reviewed the situation the Chief Minister stated that the GoM comprised of Finance Minister Harpal Cheema and Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal, and the Minister of Animal Husbandry Laljit Singh Bhullar would be assisted by experts from the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and officials from the department of animal husbandry.
He declared that the GoM will be reviewing the situation and take the necessary actions to prevent the spread of the disease.
Mann stated that the government has a duty to protect the rights of the cattle ranchers.
The Chief Minister also declared plans to start a massive vaccination drive to safeguard animals from the disease.He stated that vaccinations will be administered to animals at no cost of cost, and added that there is plenty of funds to fund this.
Mann further stated that the state government has sealed border for screening the entry of animals from other states into Punjab.
He said that the districts bordering of Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Bathinda and Tarn Taran are the most severely affected by the disease which indicates that the virus has spread from other states.
