New Delhi, Aug 9 : For the majority of professionals in the country machine learning (ML) and statistics are among the top two sought-after abilities that recruiters are looking for in professionals working in data science in a report released on Tuesday.Python remains the most widely used programming language in all industries and MS Excel, Tableau and Power BI are the top three visualization tools employed by professionals in data science according to the report from Great Learning, a BYJU’s company within the group.
“For professionals who want to succeed in the digital age building the foundation for the right skills in data science must begin now to prepare for the changes that are likely to be coming,” said Hari Krishnan Nair Co-founder of Great Learning.
This area has affected the way businesses and companies function , and those who improve their skills in this field stand the chance of becoming top potential candidates in profitable fields, he added.
Two out of three professionals with three years or less of experience told recruiters that they consider visualisation of data as an “must-have ability”.
Three in four professionals in data science with less than three years of work experience are engaged in weekly training, while over 50 percent of professionals in the three-six year category upskill themselves weekly.
Professionals with 6 to 10 years of experience prefer to update their skills on a regular basis, as per the report mentions.
Sector-wise experts in retail, consumer packaged Goods (CPG) and online commerce are more likely learn about cloud computing as an opportunity to acquire a new ability.
Of the multitude of programming languages, 90% percent of professionals in data science use Python as their preferred choice to model statistically, according to the report.
