Kanpur 7 August : The police in Kanpur have launched an investigation regarding the issue of arms licenses to the slain criminal Vikas Dubey as well as his associates.In light of the report by the Judicial Commission the government has begun the investigation based on the directives of the Supreme Court.
Divisional Commissioner Raj Shekhar and ADG Bhanu Bhaskar will conduct the investigation of police officers and administration as well as employees as well as personnel of other departments who have come under scrutiny in the investigation.
Both officials have sent notices to employees concerned informing them to submit their responses.
Following the Bikru incident on July 3 of 2020, it was brought to be known that arm licenses were issued to Vikas dubey and his associates, despite serious criminal cases filed against them.
It was found in the probe that a proper procedure was not adhered to in the case of the arms license and other cases relating to land dispute.
ADG Bhanu Bhaskar said that according to the directives of the government, an investigation has been initiated against those concerned.
“The administrative aspect will be examined by the commissioner for divisions.
I will look into the role of the police officers of the police department” he added.
On the 3rd of July, 2020, a team of police went to the home of Vikas Dubey in Bikru village of the district.
The police force was attacked by Dubey and his men in which eight policemen, including the the then CO of Bilhaur, Devendra Mishra were killed.
