Amaravati, 6 August : Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N.Chandrababu Naidu called on Saturday on President Droupadi Murmu in Rashtrapati Bhavan.Naidu’s first interaction with Murmu following her election.she was elected the President in the month of October.
The TDP had offered its support to Murmu.
Chandrababu Naidu was in Delhi to attend the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav gathering hosted by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
After the meeting with Murmu The TDP chief claimed it was a formal call to express his gratitude to her for her election as president of India.He stated that the TDP offered its unconditional support to her and to all the party’s MPs and MLAs who voted in her favor.
Murmu was in Amaravati on the 12th of July in the course of her campaign for election.The TDP had organised a meeting with the party’s MLCs, MPs and MLAs.
On the occasion, Chandrababu Naidu had heaped praise on Murmu and described her life as extraordinary.
She will be an inspiration to the most disadvantaged sections of society to live an ordinary existence, Naidu felt.
After the meeting with Murmu on Saturday Naidu was present at the discussion about Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav that was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan which was presided over by APrime Minister Modi.
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a program of the Central government to commemorate and celebrate the 75 years of independence and the glorious past of its people as well as its culture and achievements.
The Mahotsav began on the 12th of March last year to commemorate the countdown of 75 weeks to the 75th anniversary of independence.It will conclude on August 15, 2023.
It is the first time Chandrababu Naidu was invited by the Centre for an official gathering in the capital city of the nation after the TDP lost power in Andhra Pradesh in 2019.
The TDP had withdrawn of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in 2018 in protest of the refusal of the Central government to provide the Special Category Status Andhra Pradesh.
The Naidu-led group had partnered with the Congress party for the 2019 elections, but it lost control to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh.
In recent news reports, Naidu dropped hints that he is prepared to once again join forces with the BJP.The state leadership of the saffron-colored party however, was not open to the suggestion.
